JUDGES LISTS

Application form below,  for judges requesting admission to MGRC Judges Lists

JUDGES EDUCATION PROGRAMME

From 1st January 2022 it is a Kennel Club requirement that every judge fulfils the requirements of  Level 1 for the  Judges' Education Programme (Breed Shows):

exhibitors,  show societies and judges.

The Judges Education Programme introduces a structured and logical approach to the training of judges, incorporating a step-by-step approach.

Kennel Club Regulations implementing the Judges Education Programme came into force on 1 January 2021. Seminars undertaken prior to this date can be accepted for use when progressing via the Judges Education Programme. However, judges are required to complete the criteria at each Judges Education Programme level before moving on to the next.

Stewarding is a requirement for both levels 1 and 3 and therefore a more fluid approach can be taken here.

Level 1

Requirements to meet this level:

  • Minimum of five years proven interest in pedigree dogs.

  • Attend a requirements of a dog show judge seminar (but not mandatory to take and pass examination).

  • Attend a conformation and movement seminar.

  • Complete a minimum of two full-day stewarding appointments

Please will all judges on our B and C lists check that they meet these requirements, if they don’t, please let our Judges Co-Ordinator, Lesley Layland know, Tel:  lesleylayland@yahoo.co.uk

If you need any help with, or advice about the JEP or continuing with the 'old' judging system, please either pm or e-mail Penny Gowland: pennygowland@btinternet.com

We would like to hear from people who are needing assistance with their judging

****

We are thinking of running a Zoom 'clinic' for people who would appreciate help with their judging progress & people who are wanting to go through the “Grandfathering” process but either haven't done or haven’t passed a Breed Specific Assessment and would be interested in doing one. If interested, please contact Penny Gowland on Facebook via pm or email: pennygowland@btinternet.com

To all Judges and Aspiring Judges

Following RKC meeting of BEC's on Tuesday night the following has now been confirmed

As from 1st January 2026

ALL judges MUST be registered on the JEP platform otherwise you CANNOT judge. This is a requirement in F Show Regs!

To be eligible to judge at all you MUST be registered and showing on the RKC Find a Judge site at a minimum of JEP Level 1. If you are not registered there, you cannot judge.

The responsibility is YOURS. If you are asked to judge by any club you must meet the appropriate criteria AND also be on the RKC JEP platform.

Make sure that you do before accepting an appointment. This is not the club’s responsibility – it’s YOURS!

There has been some leeway until now & since the JEP launch in January 2021, the RKC has made some allowances. This will be now be ending

Please make sure that you are registered on the JEP platform. No matter which Breed Club judging List you are / have been on, this will not count after 31st December 2025.

Contact your relevant BEC if you are having any problems with the Platform.
