We are looking for an experienced home for Bailey a 7 year male golden retriever.
Bailey has been much loved and very well cared for but sadly due to his elderly owner's ill-health, his owner now needs carers to visit and so sadly can no longer provide the home environment Bailey needs.
We really want to get Bailey the right forever home So, firstly for the negative, Unfortunately on one occasion whilst the owner was recieving a care visit, Bailey was shut in a room and in the process of trying to get out the carer responded by grabbing Bailey by the collar and attempted to push him back in. Unfortunately Bailey reacted to the carers actions and bit the carer on the arm. The owner has said that is was out of character for Bailey and nothing like this had happened before. Due to the carer being bitten the police were involved however, in their view Bailey was reacting to the behaviour of the carer and as a result there was no case to answer.
Bailey has lived with his owner since a puppy, he is very energetic however he is currently overweight (which will need to be addressed) he will walk on a lead and play games of fetch and obey simple obedience commands. Bailey is not neutered, he is fully vaccinated and flea treated and doesn't have any known health issues or allergies. At bedtime he sleeps on the floor next to his owners bed. When on a walk he will bark at cats and try to chase them. Bailey hasn't lived with other pets before and doesn't like being shut in a room alone.
We are looking for a home with previous experience of owning Golden Retrievers. Ideally owners who are around most of the time, but Bailey can be left for short periods.
As Bailey chases cats, sadly a home with them wouldn't be considered and we would not consider a home with children under 13 years.
In the right home we feel that Bailey will be a wonderful dog and companion for many years to come.
If you feel you can offer Bailey a forever home please email:
including as much information about the home you can offer.
